There are medical reasons to stop the war on marijuana, but protecting our teenage daugthers
from strip searches of male police is going to be added to my list of reasons...... Scott Flanagan, the officer who conducted the strip search and a similar assault on a different girl in 1992, admitted to the crimes and was convicted in 1993 of civil rights violations and indecent assault of a child. But Perry initially said that he was in a position to see and hear everything that happened that night and that the assault never occurred.
The matter intensified this week when one of the victims released a public statement denouncing the U.S. House hopeful and his version of the story.

Lisa Allen, the woman who was 14 years old in 1991 when she was assaulted by Flanagan, had this to say about the incident:

"Perry knew what Flanagan did, he had to hear me screaming and crying," Allen wrote. "Instead of helping me, Jeff Perry denied anything happened."

Perry, now running as a GOP candidate in the 10th Congressional District of Massachusetts, recently claimed that had no knowledge of the searches when they took place.http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/10/23/jeff-perry-strip-search_n_772547.html

Now my second beef is with the Republicans who can stand behing this man, who one of the victims claim, must of heard her screaming and crying and did nothing. While this is utturly disgusting, it is not suprising that the Republicans will stand behind this man and anything for the war on drugs mentatlity.....

1. Some republicans have no problem supporting this man
but are the first to yell and scream when they think
their rights are being stepped on.

Family values raises it ugly head again .........

2. "strip search" is as much as euphemism for what happened
as "enhanced interrogation techniques" is for torture.

4. Republican logic: "She obviously wanted him to do that. But who cares, he'll lower MY taxes."
They'll justify anything for a candidate with an (R) next to his name who talks about lowering taxes, gun rights, and making abortion illegal - despite the fact that Republicans haven't done shit on any of those fronts with the possible exception of some gains in letting people take loaded handguns into bars here and there. The GOP bullshit hasn't changed since the Reagan/Carter election, and probably goes back much longer. That's just the first one I was active in.

6. More Republican logic would be this ...
"She was asking for it, because she was dressing like she was 18 ..."

5. Cops like this one will find other girls to strip search.
If you think eliminating law's will stop this cop from strip searching a girl then think again. It may make it harder for him to find a girl to arrest but in the end the cop will get what he wants.

So if this Perry guy doesn't stand up for this girl, then he's just another loser running for office.

7. Let's face it. There is no war on drugs.
There is a war on blacks and latinos. There is a war on the poor and disenfranchised. There is a war on the tax payers, whatever excuse which will funnel billions of our tax dollars to for-profit corporations (ahem, big prison, inc.). Lies upon lies upon lies and it will never stop as long as there is money to be made.

Never forget the judge in Pennsylvania who got a kickback for every teen he sentenced to a stay in the privately run juvenile detention center.
Two judges pleaded guilty on Thursday to accepting more than $2.6 million from a private youth detention center in Pennsylvania in return for giving hundreds of youths and teenagers long sentences.

Judges Mark Ciavarella and Michael Conahan of the Court of Common Pleas in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, entered plea agreements in federal court in Scranton admitting that they took payoffs from PA Childcare and a sister company, Western PA Childcare, between 2003 and 2006.

Capitalists have NO moral code but one: greed is good (for them). And that's all they care about, that's all they will EVER care about. Your kids can die or their lives can be ruined and they don't give a damn -- as long as there's some money in it for them.
