They Hate Our Guts

Democrats hate stay-at-home spouses, no matter what gender or gender preference. Democratic advocacy for feminism, gay marriage, children’s rights, and “reproductive choice” is simply a way to invade -power’s little realm of domestic private life and bring it under the domination of Democrats.

Democrats hate immigrants. Immigrants can’t stay illegal because illegality puts immigrants outside the legal monopoly on force. But immigrants can’t become legal either. They’d prosper and vote Republican.

Democrats hate America being a world power because world power gives power to the nation instead of to Democrats.

And Democrats hate the military, of course. Soldiers set a bad example. Here are men and women who possess what, if they chose, could be complete control over power. Yet they treat power with honor and respect. Members of the armed forces fight not to seize power for themselves but to ensure that power can bestow its favors upon all Americans.

I think P. J. O’Rourke is a fascist nutjob. This whole article is revolting.

1. P.J. O'Rourke is revolting,
and has been forever. I just listened to Chris Hedges speaking on the topic of the left vs. right...and, from my observation of the subject, he is correct.

3. O'Rourke is supposedly a "humorist" whose political
views are roughly classified as libertarian. IMO, those views are just plain nasty.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P._J._O'Rourke

Like most RW nutjobs, however, he is basically fact-challenged. I love that he dares to state that Democrats "hate the military." His views were conveniently left-wing during the Vietnam era and I can't find any mention that he ever served himself. RWers mostly pay lip service to the military but generally find excuses never to serve. Dem politicans, at least, more often actually have served.

5. It's a Well Known Fact that Right of Center Folk Are Humor Impaired
as well as factually impaired, logically impaired, and too often mentally and emotionally impaired.

Take for example of the first the horrible cartoon "Mallard Fillmore".

4. LOL
Just substitute Republican for Democrat in the screed and it will come out sounding just right. Talk about PROJECTION. Isn't O'Rourke supposed to be the right's answer to Colbert? Seems he missed some of the lessons in the irony class.:kick: :kick: :kick:

6. He used to be funny 40 years ago.
Back in the old National Lampoon days.

He must have gotten hold of some bad acid.

7. Why do you right-wing media addicts always drop your steaming turds around here?
If you want to do something about this, then do something about O'Rourke. Otherwise post it at one of the right-wing sites you visit

11. PJ is just so mean and frankly, dishonest
Here he is claiming that success makes people vote Republican. PJ is probably the only Republican among his peers, and also without a doubt the least successful in terms of money, fame, or critical recognition.
His first big splash was a piece called ""How to Drive Fast on Drugs While Getting Your Wing-Wang Squeezed and Not Spill Your Drink" his most recent is titled "Don't Vote". Compare and contrast the titles. Enjoy.

12. too bad he's not talented enough to be a hack.
In the 70's there was a guy by the same name who wrote funny stuff for the National Lampoon. Sadly, he lost what ever writing skills he had fairly early. Now days he relegated to regurgitating wing nut humor and playing a talking head on tv.

14. He just sounds...drunk. If he weren't yelling this on paper, it would be through the walls...
None of it makes any sense. If you read carefully, there are words, clumped together like cat litter, bound by proximity, rather than by some sensible goal.

"Armed with the panoply of lawmaking, these moonstruck fools for power go about in a jealous rage." What does that even mean? Can you ever be "armed with the panoply of lawmaking"? I'm not sure "the panoply" ever gets used sensibly with a gerund. Especially when it's a broad, undefined category. "Overwhelmed by the panoply of cooking, Mom dashes about the kitchen"? Nope. Doesn't work. Maybe it could, but it just doesn't make sense here. "Dumbstruck by the panoply of writing, P.J. O'Rourke reels about the office, knocking over papers, a tiny dixie flag in a marble base and a fifth of bourbon, eventually careening headlong into a total lack of insight and sending his credibility crashing to the floor."

I think O'Rourke likes to play a sort of verbal king of the mountain, where he tries to pile up so much crap that he can stand on top of it without being touched.
