Eleutrophobia part 1

I was more apprehensive than a Libertarian getting stripped searched by private security guards in a shopping mall. Now the liberal left is giving us the apocryphal suspense about the mid-term elections coming up soon. Yeah, those crazy tea baggers are going to take over and we are all going to die! Not really. The tea party is not a brand name but a non-existent movement. This election cycle we got a lot of right wing crackpots running as tea baggers and there is not even a position paper on what they believe in? Oh? We all know what they are against! But what are they for? These slate of candidates running as tea baggers remind me of the mayoralty races in Los Angeles. If you get enough registered voters signatures on a petition you can get on the ballot and run for mayor. Ever 4 years we use to get the singing candidate, or the naked candidate who always wore a bathing suit. Maybe he should have had run an as the Speedo candidate. My point is, there was the 27% who supported the Bush presidency and now they watching Glenn Beck and eating microwave popcorn and a bowel of potato chips and washing it down with Coors beer. Then once in a while they rally somewhere with their goofy signs and straw hats. Their politics if there is any, sounds like the right wing politics of the 1960’s with a militia group called the Minutemen. Now all you right wing Francophobes are not going to like this. The head of this group was a biochemist from Norborne Missouri named Robert Bolivar DePugh. Oh, Mr. DePugh was a real outlaw (In his mind) He was busted in 68 for arm robbery. Why did he rob a bank? He wanted to finance the counter-revolution. He actually termed it, “Counter-Revolution” I guess he had studied political science unlike his Tea Bagger successors who think they are revolutionaries. Robert was one of many paranoid U.S Americans who was convinced the Soviet Union was about to invade the USA. He supported the John Birch Society but he thought they were not militant enough. He formed this cadre of white gun nuts. They spread rumors that they will shot any man or boy wearing long hair because that was the symbol of communism. They were convinced the US Government was under Communist Control. In 1968, Robert was indicted by federal grand in Seattle Washington for violation of federal firearms act. He jumped bail and went underground. I love irony, don’t you? Guess where the FBI found him? In a place called: Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. They convicted him and was placed in Federal prison until 1973. He published some books and had a newsletter called: On Target.
The media loves these Tea Bagger fools. Let’s face it; they are entertaining in their idiocy. But are they dangerous? Did the militia groups in the 90’s do any major harm? I already voted. Have you?
