Obama, the Great Placator, needs to throw some elbows
By Courtland Milloy
Tuesday, November 30, 2010; 10:23 PM

"Watching President Obama walk back to the White House with a busted lip from a recent basketball game, I was hoping he would step toward the TV cameras and show off his scar. Taste the blood in his mouth, tell us that he'll just have to take it out on the Republicans or something.

Instead, Obama trudged on by, nursing his wounds, looking like a kid who had just been sucker-punched in a schoolyard brawl."

(snip)
"Obama's decision will be a devastating blow to the Washington area's economy, not to mention a betrayal of some of his most loyal supporters and the nation's most dedicated public servants. After throwing nearly a trillion dollars to rescue banks and big business, he turns around and picks the pocket of everyday working people.

Has there ever been a president who treated his sworn enemies so much better than his proven friends?

What a milquetoast."

3. ..and is perplexed that his supporters abandon him in droves?
It can't be a mistake or miscalculation or misunderstanding. It has to be staged, deliberate cluelessness.

A hard bargainer like Obama working for Acme Industries would have been fired long ago

4. I am so sick ...
... of reading that Obama needs to "throw some elbows" or "grow a spine" or "fight back" ... you've heard all the euphemisms.

It - is - not - going -to happen.

Pres. Obama has zero negotiating skills -- it is time to admit that flaw in his character.

Obama is confused and there is no helping him: he thinks giving bullies what they want is "post-partisan" and he is apparently psychologically incapable of perceiving the Repuglican's behavior any other way.

So, the wars will not end, the Pentagon budget will grow, there will be more tax breaks for the super wealthy elite and the mega-transnational corporations -- and working and middle class Americans will be screwed for the next two years.

It is as plain as the nose on your face.

Let's just see Barack Obama and the cowardly U.S. Senate leadership for what they are and move on.

5. Damn Right!
There is no further explanation needed. This administration has revealed all it needs to reveal and let us accept it as is and start working for alternative ways of safeguarding and advancing our liberal goals and principles sans Obama and the democratic leadership (DLC). They are all sellouts by all indications.Damn Right!

8. I can't get over his "negotiating" style
How about, FIRST, staking out a position and, THEN, negotiating/compromising to get something done; as opposed to caving first. Why is that so difficult?
