In its first months in office, the Obama administration sought to protect Bush administration officials facing criminal investigation overseas for their involvement in establishing policies the that governed interrogations of detained terrorist suspects. An April 17, 2009, cable sent from the US embassy in Madrid to the State Department—one of the 251,287 cables obtained by WikiLeaks—details how the Obama administration, working with Republicans, leaned on Spain to derail this potential prosecution.

20. When you consider that you only get to vote for establishment approved candidates

to begin with, coupled with a voting system that is not even verifiable, the public vote probably doesn't make a whole lot of difference in the big picture. If a true peoples advocate should try to run, he will be immediately ridiculed by the media, will receive no party funds, and his campaign will be doomed from the get go (remember Kucinich couldn't even get asked a question in the debates). The media will tell you ahead of time the likely winners, and by that they mean the candidates you will be permitted to choose from.
