Randall Terry's Super Bowl Sunday Super Anti-Abortion Surprise
The extremist anti-abortion activist is hanging out with future Speaker Boehner's staff, criticizing impotent mainstream pro-life groups and urging anti-abortion activists to join him in supporting the airing of a graphic anti-abortion ad during the Super Bowl.
Randall Terry has a plan. And, if he can pull it off it will likely be his most spectacular accomplishment ever. All he needs is about $2.5 to 3 million dollars. Although his plan will culminate on Super Bowl Sunday in Dallas, Texas, it has nothing to do with the actual football game. It doesn't even have anything to do with Ronald Reagan's 100th birthday, which, coincidentally, will be celebrated on the very same day as the Super Bowl.

Terry aims to rock your world just as you and your friends have settled down to some fabulous food, a late afternoon-early evening of Super Bowl football, and a handful of spectacularly hyped ads.

Rocking your Super Bowl Sunday

If Terry pulls his magnum opus of a scheme off, it will make everyone forget about the controversy that surrounded the airing last year of a pro-life ad featuring Tim Tebow and his mother.

After all the stunts, shenanigans, personal scandals, and fundraising irregularities that are associated with Terry over the years, it is remarkable that he is still a person of interest. Apparently he is.

Terry recently met with future House Speaker John Boehner's chief of staff. According to Slate, "Terry e-mailed his supporters a photo from the meeting, along with encouraging words like 'We have Pro-Life DEMANDS' and 'We Must Play Hard Ball: They Must Fear Pro-Lifers!'"

1. Surely, network standards won't allow gory images in Superbowl halftime.
Now excuse me while I go wait for Santa.

2. Actually, I really don't think they will.
The Super Bowl is in the business of making money. In doing so, they try to be as bland and inoffensive as possible (recall, of course, the ridiculous hysteria over Janet Jackson). Regardless of how the NFL, team owners, the Super Bowl committee, etc. may feel about abortion, there's no way in hell they're going to show aborted fetuses during a Super Bowl commercial break, simply because the couple million they'd get from Terry is nothing compared to the money they'd lose. It has nothing to do directly with abortion -- thy won't show such an ad because, quite simply, there's no money in it.
