Justice Scalia and the Tea Party
When the Tea Party holds its first Conservative Constitutional Seminar next month, Justice Antonin Scalia is set to be the speaker. It was a bad idea for him to accept this invitation. He should send his regrets.

The Tea Party epitomizes the kind of organization no justice should speak to — left, right or center — in the kind of seminar that has been described in the press. It has a well-known and extreme point of view about the Constitution and about cases and issues that will be decided by the Supreme Court.

By meeting behind closed doors, as is planned, and by presiding over a seminar, implying give and take, the justice would give the impression that he was joining the throng — confirming his new moniker as the “Justice from the Tea Party.” The ideological nature of the group and the seminar would eclipse the justice’s independence and leave him looking rash and biased.

1. History will not be kind to this man.
If this nation survives and regains some sense of honesty, Scalia along w/ many others will be the villans of this dire period. :evilfrown:

2. Excellent points. Additionally, they (Tea Party) so love the
Constitution that they want to change at 5 Amendments.

"liberal" Justices accepted an invitation to speak at some "Leftwing" political gathering?

It is mindboggling how much the right gets away with, while if someone on the Left does the same thing, s/he pays for dearly...

RWers can see prostitutes and wear diapers, and not only stay in office, but be re-elected.

A Democrat sees a prostitute and is immediately excoriated by the entire media world, and forced out of office....
even if the disclosure of the information was part of a plot to destroy the man's career.

5. The arrogance and smugness of this man
is beyond any sort of class. He is entirely devoid of principles and really has no right to be in the supreme court. He would have been an excellent mafia hit man. No conscious and no morals and no sense of dignity. Talk about sociopaths.
