F. Lee Bailey: O.J. proved innocent
Source: UPI

A member of O.J. Simpson's Los Angeles murder trial defense team says the defense had conclusive evidence of Simpson's innocence but chose not to present it.

F. Lee Bailey, now living in Yarmouth, Maine, has written an outline of the reasons he believes Simpson did not kill Nichole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. The document posted on baileyandelliott.com is also the outline of an intended book.

Simpson was acquitted in 1995 after an eight-month trial but the jury in a civil wrongful death suit found he was liable for the deaths. He is now serving a long prison term in Nevada for robbing a sports memorabilia dealer at gunpoint.

Bailey said misleading accounts in the news media created a public perception of Simpson's guilt, and the defense had to cut its presentation short to avoid a mistrial as jurors were dismissed. He said the defense had a "huge and impressive array of evidence which went cold in the defense's arsenal because we had to abort the trial due to juror attrition and two frightened prosecutors."

16. Yes, as I recall only 2 pairs were sold in LA, and the bloody prints were at the scene.
1 pair owned by OJ.

12. You yourself seem a tad confused
as the civil one was just the court of public opinion, the criminal one didnt find him guilty and that we can largely thank (imo atleast) Mark Fuhrman for because of his perjury.

5. blah blah blah blah blah. I don't give a good god damn that he was
acquitted in his criminal trial. I am of the personal opinion that he is guilty as hell.

End of subject. And F. Lee Bailey can bite me.

7. HA!
Sure, all defense attorneys hold off on presenting their "huge and impressive array" of exculpatory evidence until weeks into their case because ... to pad the bill? Because it adds to the drama? They like making their client squirm?

Oops! Jury is getting restless. I guess we better rest our case and not present our "huge and impressive array" of exculpatory evidence. Our bad! Sorry!

Let me guess. We will be able to learn all about this "huge and impressive array" of exculpatory evidence for the mere cost of $29.95 when the book goes on sale, right? And, of course, the chance to "interview Bailey about his book" (provide free advertising) and the "huge and impressive array" of exculpatory evidence will be what lights up the phones at the booking agency, right?

8. Whether guilty or not, his trial was mis-justice. A creepy, pathetic display of sensationalism and
egos - a disgrace to honest and disciplined prosecutors.

10. IF they had had conclusive evidence
but had chosen not to present it:

1. They would have been guilty of malpractice by not making sure they did everything to assure the desired verdict

2. They would not have had to rely on a defense based on ignorance, innuendo and inflammation.

In other words, he is full of shit.

Sad when someone is used to being in the limelight has to resort to this kind of shit to get back in.

Sad.

15. If that's true F. Lee then you f*cked him over good
He got creamed in the Civil trial. I'm sure his lawyer would have loved to have had that info to defend him.
It also would have saved him the grief he suffered after the trial.

I'd think that's borderline malpractice at best.

23. F. Lee Bailey was overrated as a defense lawyer, imo.
Had some successes, but had some notable failures also. He does get credit for tripping up Mark Fuhrman on cross exam but it is debatable as to whether that was Bailey's skill or Furhman's incompetence as a witness - Bailey himself said that "any lawyer in his right mind who would not be looking forward to cross-examining Mark Fuhrman is an idiot."

30. As much of a scumbag as OJ is....
...the jury in the murder trial said the proceeding was effectively over after a few days. I saw several of them interviewed, both singly and as a group, and they unanimously said that there was no way on earth the crime happened in the way the prosecution presented it.

Asked if the ill-fitting glove was significant to them, their answer was "HUGELY." That WAS the end of the trial, as far as they were concerned.
