"Sarah Palin will never be President" Joan Walsh
what a wonderful piece by Joan -

read the entire piece at

snips ~

I don't know what's worse: That Sarah Palin knew the term "blood libel" has historically been a cornerstone of anti-Semitism (it specifically refers to the gruesome lie that Jews murdered Christian babies to use their blood in matzoh) or that she's so ignorant she didn't know what "blood libel" meant.

I am honestly not sure which is true, but I know one thing, having watched her atrocious, tone-deaf, all-about-me video: Sarah Palin will never be president of the United States....

...I'm not making the case here that Palin is anti-Semitic (although it's interesting that one of her first advisors was Fred Malek, the guy who counted the number of Jews in the Nixon administration for Buchanan's old boss). More than any other American president, Palin reminds me of Richard Nixon, who rode a coalition of resentment and grievance to the presidency. Nixon had his own deep well of self-pity, immortalized in his famous "last" speech in 1962, where he promised, "You won't have Nixon to kick around anymore." But Nixon also learned from his loss to John F. Kennedy and the reaction to his "last" speech to project more leadership and less anger and bitterness. Palin hasn't learned anything since she lost her campaign for the vice presidency in 2008, except how to "reload" on her enemies after criticism.

Tuesday's speech isn't really surprising, but it did make it plain to me: Palin can't be president. She's a divider, not a uniter, and she can't even pretend to be anything else. Americans won't forget that while Giffords and other shooting victims were still hospitalized, Palin was tending to her own psychic wounds. So very petty, so hugely unpresidential.

2. Look at the mountains of CRAP Obama's had to shoulder
The "birther" stuff, the photos of him dressed as a pimp, holding fried chicken and watermelon and Colt 40 malt liquor and on and on and on...

If he stopped every time someone "crossed a line" with him, he'd be doing what Palin is doing...spending all of his time whining and proving himself right instead of doing his damned job.

Of course Palin has no job...her number one concern is herself, and money, and herself, and more money.

Anyone who reads my posts knows I love Joan Walsh...I post her stuff all the time. These lines concern me:

Americans won't forget that while Giffords and other shooting victims were still hospitalized, Palin was tending to her own psychic wounds. So very petty, so hugely unpresidential.

...because on Facebook and Free Republic, in what I hope is a very, very small minority among the American people, there are nutcases high-fiving Palin;s decision to "stand firm" and "be strong," many of them saying GOD HIMSELF sent her to US to lead and deliver us.

Like I said...I hope those people are a drop in the bucket, because if they're not, Palin is nowhere near hearing the sound of the fat lady singing.

3. actually she is a perfect republican candidate but...
since she has to appeal to the undecided or moderates she does`t stand a chance to be elected. the people who run the republican party know this but they`ll use her for all she`s worth...

5. But she will be the republican nominee in 2012. Her youtube presentation will
enthrall the republican base and will go along way towards her success in the primaries. Seven and 1/2 minutes is a long speech for this situation. It was well thought out to appeal to the republican base. Flags, Reagan references, God, and ' murca is the greatest.

7. I don't think Palin even wants the Presidency.
Which is not to say she won't run. I think she intends to run, knowing that she cannot possibly win. After a few primaries she will drop out. Why? To maintain her relevance with the Right. If she doesn't run, her 15 minutes are up (hopefully they'll be up anyway). She needs to maintain relevance in order to continue to market sarah inc. Remember, money is important to her; not power(except in how it promotes Sarah Palin). The Presidency would mean a massive pay cut.

9. Sarah's been palling around with neo-nazi groups.
She picked up the word somewhere. She's not very bright so I doubt she learned about it by studying and reading. It's a common word used among neo-nazi groups. So, either she has become familiar with it from palling around with neo-nazis or her speech writer has been palling around with neo-nazis.

Either way she has ramped up the violent imagery. What else did we expect from the likes of such a fool.

10. Sarah won't even be the nominee.
It is a mistake to spend so much time, energy, and focus on her.

The Republican strategists and Media are using her as a Stalking Horse.
Don't fall for this.

Definitions of stalking horse:

* a candidate put forward to divide the Opposition or to mask the true candidate

* screen consisting of a figure of a horse behind which a hunter hides while stalking game

Sarah is getting all the attention and taking all the arrows while
there are dangerous Republican candidates that are benefiting from the cover.
Tim Pawlenty was on Jon Stewart sounding reasonable and Populist...claiming that the unemployed and low wage working Americans need help.
(I couldn't believe that Stewart let him get away with that when the Republicans voted as a Party to deny unemployment benefits without a Paris Hilton tax gift.)

These "moderates" will look sane when compared to Mama Grizzley,
and will appeal to the Independents and sensible "Centrists".
