Gabrielle Giffords tireless, welcoming (Great article on Gabby)
-----

“These are the people each of us wants to be around,” said Giffords’ staffer Mark Kimble. “Every once in a while, something sets one or more of us off, and we get in a back room here and have a good cry.”

And then they get back to work, because no one worked harder than Giffords, a three-term Democratic congresswoman.

She flew from Washington, D.C. to Tucson and back almost every week. In a single day, she would stop by a food bank, go to a school for the groundbreaking of a solar-energy project, meet with an editorial board, and drive to Green Valley for a speech at a retirement village and then to Sierra Vista for a meeting.

Giffords alternates between her BlackBerry and iPhone, taking calls, answering e-mails and making arrangements to go more places and do more things.

“Her days are insane,” said Sara Hummel Rajca, another staffer who, like Kimble, is back at work even though she was with Giffords when the bullets flew and witnessed the horrifying aftermath.
