CBO's response to John Boehner's request to evaluate budget impact of repealing AffordableHealthcare

Impact on the Federal Budget in the First Decade

As a result of changes in direct spending and revenues, CBO expects that
enacting H.R. 2 would probably increase federal budget deficits over the
2012–2019 period by a total of roughly $145 billion
, plus or minus the
effects of technical and economic changes that CBO and JCT will include
in the forthcoming estimate. That figure consists of the following two
components:

• About $130 billion, representing the net reduction in deficits over
the 2012–2019 period expected to result from the health care
provisions of the enacted legislation (as estimated by CBO and JCT
last March),3 plus

• About $15 billion, representing the reduction brought about by the
Medicare and Medicaid Extenders Act of 2010 in the estimated cost
of subsidies to be provided through the insurance exchanges through
2019.

Both Democrats and Republicans
use the CBO to evaluate financial proposals.

2. I guess they consider him a dick too. Oh, I thought you were referring to the "Boner" appellation.

Certainly you are not questioning the authority of the Congressional Budget Office in matters of estimating tax revenue and expenditure impacts of legislation? Congressional Budget Office was created by an act of Congress (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congressional_Budget_and_Impoundment_Control_Act_of_1974">Congressional Budget and Impoundment Control Act - 1974)in order to have a reliable source for analysis of the revenues and costs of pending legislation - one which was independent of the Executive Branch.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congressional_Budget_Office

This office has been relied upon by both parties as the authority on the revenue and cost impacts of prospective legislation.. Although it is the practice of the GOP to ignore any analyses from this office that doesn't agree with their current propaganda.

13. Oh I'm not criticizing the CBO at all
I was poking at Boehner's dismissal of the CBO as only proffering "opinions". Of course, anything they say is the truth while everybody else just has "opinions".

3. To Clarify, H.R. 2 = "The Repealing the Job-Killing Health Care Law Act
Edited on Tue Jan-18-11 05:37 PM by emulatorloo
So basically CBO is letting Boehner know that the Repeal will RAISE THE DEFICIT.

How long before Rep Ryan etc come out with "the CBO has a liberal bias" talking point?

11. Too bad the Republicans don't tell the truth about what they are up to.
But I guess they couldn't get elected without lies.

12. We Need To Get MSM To Show This Response By The CBO To Boner On The Air.....
this needs to be widely publicized and the Dems need to shout this out to the American People.

I'm still calling what the Repugs are doing with the repeal of HCR as "BONERCARE".

Bonercare = Nothing
