Republicans’ 2010 election triumph will fuel civilization’s demise, Chomsky says
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/01/republicans-2010-election-triumph-will-fuel-civilizations-demise-chomsky-says/

The Republican Party's triumph in the 2010 congressional elections, coupled with the rapid depletion of the earth's natural resources, signaled the impending collapse of human civilization, according to a world-renowned scholar known for his left-wing politics.

“You could almost interpret as a kind of a death knell for the species," Noam Chomsky, professor emeritus of linguistics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, said in a recent interview.

But he's not the only one worried; the US business press is, too.

Chomsky continued, "There was an article in Bloomberg BusinessWeek, you know – not a radical rag exactly. They’re running through the new Republicans coming to Congress, and they’re worried about them.”

2. I don't think it is all that bad, we will survive. The Republicans
will misread the election and go to far just like the Democrats did this year.

5. The only place Democrats went "too far" was toward the center right.
But go ahead with the RW talking points......

6. Tell your Blue Dog Democrats that are out of office that one. The
only reason my Congressman lost his seat was he voted for the HCR bill.

3. But remember, teabaggers, Chomsky is a communist/socislist/Nazi.

Or at least one of those - which invalidates his opinion on everything else.

4. Civilization was on the "demise" path anyway -- though I agree Republicans generally hasten it
Democrats do nothing to prevent it, however, inasmuch as they're too busy quaking for/at their corporate masters...

8. When Obama backed the "Tax Cut Deal", he kicked the props
out from under what few constructive option we had remaining. We've got to start collecting a fair amount of taxes from the super rich before it's too late for all, including the super rich and we can't wait for them to agree with that.

7. I don't believe that Chomsky is exaggerating the predictions for
the future. We are in deep trouble. But, I would rate the collapse as probable but not totally certain.
