US internet 'kill switch' bill to return |
|
A controversial bill handing US president Barack Obama power over privately owned computer systems during a 'national cyber-emergency', and prohibiting any review by the court system, will return this year. http://www.zdnet.co.uk/news/security/2011/01/25/us-internet-kill-switch-bill-to-return-40091536/

1. "Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) and Susan Collins (R-Maine)" |
|
That pretty much says it all, doesn't it?

2. I don't think it is about this President, but the next Republican one. |
|
More about getting everything in place ahead of time. When the time comes, it will be Obama's fault, his far left-wing administration, he signed it. Like NAFTA was Clinton's fault, he signed it. Never mind it was veto proof.
This bill not needed anyway. When the time comes, they will just do it, no matter the 'law'.
But as long as we have Dance With the Stars, American Idol, Survivor, etc., we don't need to worry about anyone shutting down the Internet. That will invigorate too many people to join the revolt if they do that. They will just quietly cripple and remove some parts of it. Subversive sites such as DU come to mind as access becomes slow and intermittent for instance and the whole site becomes one big the 9/11 dungeon, where anything approaching the truth gets twisted around and swamped out.

6. throwing that switch would be like an executioner throwing the switch on the electric chair except |
|
it would kill the executioner not the guy in the chair.
Pulling that switch would be removing the last fig leaf protecting the lie that we live in a democracy.

8. The arrogance of the political class is truly |
|
astounding. They have become so immune to feeling what the real world feels that their cognitive abilities have truly been impaired.
