Egypt protests show George W. Bush was right about freedom in the Arab world
There are no words.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2011/01/28/AR2011012803144.html?hpid=opinionsbox1

By Elliott Abrams
Saturday, January 29, 2011; 5:45 PM
For decades, the Arab states have seemed exceptions to the laws of politics and human nature. While liberty expanded in many parts of the globe, these nations were left behind, their "freedom deficit" signaling the political underdevelopment that accompanied many other economic and social maladies. In November 2003, President George W. Bush laid out this question:

Are the peoples of the Middle East somehow beyond the reach of liberty? Are millions of men and women and children condemned by history or culture to live in despotism? Are they alone never to know freedom and never even to have a choice in the matter?"

Speaking Of Those "Made In The USA" Tear Gas Canisters... In Egypt

JAN.2011 EGYPT PROTEST PICTURES HIGHLIGHT THE ARMS TRADE’S UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES
BY: COREY PEIN

<snip>

Most of the time, mainstream news organizations are loathe to cover the arms trade. Sometimes, though, its consequences are impossible to ignore. This is one of those times. Anyone with internet access can see American weapons, provided to Hosni Mubarak’s deeply unpopular government, on the other side of what is widely viewed as a democratic uprising.

Following Al Jazeera’s live reports yesterday of “Made in the USA”-stamped tear gas canisters being fired on Egyptian protesters, CNN, ABC News and many other news outlets ran stories about the provenance of these reviled crowd-control weapons.

The iconic canisters were manufactured by Combined Systems Inc. of bucolic Jamestown, Pennsylvania. The company was founded by Michael Brunn and Jacob Kravel, pictured.

Today, CSI, a privately held company, is controlled by Point Lookout Capital Partners, whose managing directors, Michael A. Monteleone and James J. Cesare, sit on CSI’s board. Point Lookout’s 2005 purchase of CSI was backed by the politically connected private equity giant The Carlyle Group, which took a minority stake in the munitions company.

How will Former President George W. Bush personally make millions (if not billions) from the War on Terror and Iraq? The old fashioned way. He'll inherit it.

6. This was their argument for War in Iraq. They had envisioned
Iraq falling easily, they they would proceed across
Middle East (as it fell like dominoes) Democracy would
flourish and bloom. It has not happened so easily,
over 10 years and we are still in Iraq.

Why would anyone listen to anything he said?

15. Granting Duhbya was correct in the concept but
what did he do to back up his words?

Remember that the propaganda arm of the Republican party, and of Duhbya was all PR, he was another the puppet President, follows the lead of the Nazi, say one thing and do the opposite, lie until the lie is accepted as fact.

So what Duhbya said had and has virtually not currency in the real world.

Remember the levees were over topping, and there were WMD. He was all about lies.

16. Well, they prefer freedom without the air strikes, cruise missiles, predator drones, invasion,
mass civilian casualties, and the billions flowing to the US arms industry.

But, you know, where's the fun in that.

:sarcasm:
