This development reminds me of the AARP commercial - you know the one where a variety of middle-agers talk about what they're gonna do "when they grow up." This will be a great opportunity for the most eloquent Mr. Rich to explore and stretch new vistas. New York Magazine will hopefully increae subscriptions many-fold.

2. I don't think it's a good thing because he won't get the national and

international readers he has now. He'll have a lot less influence.:(

3. The only good thing about it I see off-hand is to help point up that

anyone to the left of far-right is unlikely to thrive at the NYT.
