This morning is tuned in to hear from some conservative "think tank" talking about education and collective bargaining. I was very surprised that when he started to speak about measuring the effect of collective bargaining on education that he actually mention SAT and ACT scores. I had already seen these numbers so airing them on WRVA was not what I expected. Then I heard him lie and that was more to be expected.
Your guest lied. As a host in a real world you would have either questioned him on it or, more likely, knowning what he was going to say and researched it you would confront him on his statements. But you work in rightwing radio which has about as much to do with the real world as (skipping a Charlie Sheen joke) Fox News.
The source is The Economist. Far from a liberal operation.
Only 5 states do not have collective bargaining for educators and have deemed it illegal. Those states and their ranking on ACT/SAT scores are as follows:
South Carolina – 50th
North Carolina – 49th
Georgia – 48th
Texas – 47th
Virginia – 44th
If you are wondering, Wisconsin, with its collective bargaining for teachers, is ranked 2nd in the country.
