The latest neuroscience research is presenting intriguing evidence that the brains of certain kinds of criminals are different from those of the rest of the population.

Brain scans of the antisocial people, compared with a control group of individuals without any mental disorders, showed on average an 18 percent reduction in the volume of the brain's middle frontal gyrus, and a 9 percent reduction in the volume of the orbital frontal gyrus — two sections in the brain's frontal lobe.

5. Brain size does not matter

These individual probably have less inhibitions compare to the general population. But the size of the brain doesn't really indicate how intelligent a person or an animal for that matter. Take the elephant and a chimp for example.

Criminals have violated a law, as judged by society and its legal courts.

The reason for violating a law must be taken into account, but sometimes it isn't. The evidence should be solid, but sometimes it isn't. Sometimes the judgment rendered by the court is the crime.

If a person were condemned as a criminal, but didn't have a "criminal mind", would the judgment of the court be overridden?

Or is this just a way to prejudice a child's future? To force a malleable youth into a way of life, just because it's "expected" by statistical analysis? To divide and conquer the peasants, and justify forming an elite and an untouchable class?

Science and technology are value-free; it is how we interpret and use it that reveals our characters.
