Scott Walker Believes He’s Following Orders from the Lord
Scott Walker Believes He’s Following Orders from the Lord
By Matthew Rothschild, March 7, 2011

The dogmatic unwillingness of Wis. Gov. Scott Walker to negotiate or to compromise with Democrats or unions has surprised many people in the state. One explanation for his attitude may be found in his religious convictions.

In a talk to the Christian Businessmen’s Committee in Madison on November 13, 2009, Walker, who was raised by a Baptist preacher, spoke about his personal relationship with God, his “walk to Christ,” and his belief in the need to “trust and obey” the Lord.

He told the group that when he was thirteen, he committed himself to Jesus. “I said, ‘Lord, I’m ready . . . not just in front of my Church and the world but most importantly at the foot of your Throne, I’m ready to follow you each and every day. . . . I have just full out there said, ‘I’m going to trust in you Christ to tell me where to go. And to the best of my ability I’m going to obey where you lead me,’ and that has made all the difference in the world to me, for good times and bad.”

~snip~
Walker’s views disturb Annie Laurie Gaylor, co-president of the Freedom From Religion Foundation.

“It is frightening that the highest executive in our state suffers from the delusion that God dictates his every move,” she says. “Consider the personal and historic devastation inflicted by fanatics who think they are acting in the name of their deity.”

13. I just got a transcript
This is what The Lord told Scott Walker.

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy My brothers. And you will know My name is the Lord when I lay My vengeance upon thee."

it's just unbelievable that people like this actually emerge in positions of political power. and there are SO MANY.

you can't get elected to real political power unless you claim that you subscribe to some kind of mythological nonsense.

15. And the Lord said:
Matthew 22:39-40

39"The second is like it, YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.'

40" On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets."

Matthew 7:12 GOLDEN RULE -
12 “Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.”

John 14:15 “If ye love me keep my commandments.”

Matthew 25:44-46

44"Then they themselves also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not take care of You?'

45 "Then He will answer them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.'

46"These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."

Timothy 6:8-10 (money)

8 “And having food and raiment (clothes) let us be therewith content.

9 “But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition

10 “For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows”

Luke 16:14-15 Wealth & Possessions
14 “And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him.

15 And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men (wealth and possessions) is abomination in the sight of God.”

Matthew 19:20-24
24"Again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

16. God can't even bust a few unions on his own now?
Back in the day he used to smite like a son of a bitch, raining down his heavenly wrath by the truckload. Hell, I think he even whacked the whole planet once when he got mildly pissed off at somebody for something.

But now he needs this weasel just to break up a few unions? Wow, God's long past his peak, it would seem.

Anyone who thinks that they are being guided by an unseen force in every thing they do, and that every thing they do is Divine will must be mentally ill.

Being tolerant of religion is one thing, being tolerant of this insanity is quite another.

27. How come right wing Jesus is such an asshole and left-wing Jesus is so nice?
I'm an atheist myself, but I've noticed that plenty of Christians are liberal -- true, regardless of what you see in the media -- and plenty are conservative. When either side starts espousing their political beliefs, it's hard to believe they're reading the same book. I mean, it's like there are two different Jesuses, and I love one of them (the one Christian liberals believe in) and the other is a fucking asshole.

29. Perhaps his governing abilities would be better appreciated in the Hollows
of a firery, menacing hell. I find it hard to believe that it is god who he has been speaking with, but rather a voice in his head which based on his actions, could not be a loving, caring god, but rather some devil type or a demon of the worst sort, that he just doesn't recognize, because he is so sleazy and believes that doing bad to people is gods work. Killing unions, killing people with no health care, killing 401ks, killing jobs, and killing futures. He is a warped, frustrated person who lacks a sense of right and wrong, but would rather dictate Republican talking points, via FOX GOP Fraud news, paid for by the Koch Klan.

Wisconsinites to walk from Milwaukee to Madison to support workers

Milwaukee, Wis. (March 7, 2011) – People Organizing Wisconsin for Education and workers’ Rights (P.O.W.E.R.) are Wisconsinites who support public education and collective bargaining rights for all workers. We are planning to walk from Milwaukee to Madison to show our opposition to Governor Scott Walker’s union-busting and anti-education budget proposals. The walk will begin on Friday March 11th at 6.a.m at Riverside University High School in Milwaukee.

P.O.W.E.R. is inspired by the ideals of “Fighting Bob” La Follette and rooted in the “Wisconsin Idea.” The century-old “Wisconsin Idea” promotes equality by:

• Building our collective economy
• Advancing healthcare and medicine
• Educating young and old and
• Enhancing quality of life for all.

Walk Details

The walk will begin at 6 a.m. at Riverside University High School (1615 E. Locust Street) in Milwaukee. The walk will be divided into three shifts:

1. Friday from Milwaukee to Concord (estimated hours: 13)
2. Saturday from Concord to Deerfield (estimated hours: 9)
3. Sunday from Deerfield to the Capitol building in Madison (estimated hours: 6)
