WE TOOK CARE OF YOU TODAY, REPUBLICANS

WE TOOK CARE OF YOU TODAY, REPUBLICANS.

Your 'Right-to-work' son, who put in a 70-hour work week but was still classified as a part-time worker and who might lose his low wage job because he missed a day of work, or simply because the Chinese will work for less than he will no matter what his employer can afford pay him... we made sure he at least had the opportunity to stand up to the man getting rich from his daily toils.

We also cared for your youngest kid still in school - the shy one who was afraid to tell his teacher he didn't have a pencil, again, or didn't have lunch money, again, and who scored great on today's pop-quiz thanks to one dedicated teacher amongst all of the countless of other dedicated teachers you want to crucify in the name of 'patriotism' and 'laissez-faire capitalism' - we took care of him and got him through the day, too.

Your elderly dad, who put off going to the doctor time and time again because he had no health insurance, and now has to deal with a raging infection that almost killed him?

We took care of him, today, also.

Your twenty-something pregnant daughter who douched with cleaning fluid trying to terminate her pregnancy because she was afraid to ask you for help and afraid of what you would say... she and all the other countless sons and daughters whom you'd like to dispose of like yesterday's trash: we took care of all of them.

The one demand we made after making one sacrifice after another, one concession following another - for the good of the nation or the sake of our community - the right to simply have a seat at the table when decisions about OUR lives and OUR livlihoods were being made - that was just too much to ask for, that was too 'greedy,' that was a step 'over the line'.

It was a step over a line which you drew, Republicans - a line you drew because, even though we were there for you, today, you weren't there for us.

Del Wasso,
Rockford Coffee Party
