Jean Mathieu Rambach: ‘‘The reactor could heat up, there could be nuclear fusion at its heart, and leakage. The consequences could be quite serious.’‘

Euronews: “Can you say if this is on a par with the Chernobyl nuclear disaster?”

Jean Mathieu Rambach: ‘‘No, the tank of the reactor is contained. That was not the case for the Chernobyl reactor.’‘

1. They are, of course, guessing
Since there is no way to study the situation, except through models and mathematics, the guessing is educated, and refined.

But it's still guessing.

There are no perfect models, and mathematics at the boundaries of a system model can get very queer, tricky and deceptive.

Especially when the scale of disaster is so unlimited, it is folly to test the limits of the system in this uncontrolled and uncontrollable fashion.
