Wis. Dems Claim 45 Percent Of Needed Signatures For Recalls
In the latest development in Wisconsin, after the passage of Republican Gov. Scott Walker's new law curtailing public employee unions, state Democrats claim that they have reached 45% of their goal for petition signatures to recall eight Republican state Senators, Greg Sargent reports.

In the wake of last week's action by the state GOP leaders to pass the bill, Democrats have pledged to quickly recall the Republican members of the state Senate who are eligible, under the state law requiring at least one year of a term to be have been completed, and then to go after Walker next year.

A recall requires collecting signatures equal to at least 25 percent of the total votes in the previous gubernatorial election within the given district -- a high bar. But Democrats claim they're already almost halfway to their goal, which involves both that 25% number plus an unspecified cushion against bad signatures, after only about two weeks of circulating petitions.

1. Is this a good thing for one party to concentrate on organizing recalls?
If this is a trend, won't this go both ways?

Besides the filthy Republicans/fascists already recalled California Davis and blamed him for Enron's fake energy shortage that actually did kill people.

Enron and the fascists were only getting started then. Just look at the damage they have done to this nation since then.

And you are correct. Every time we get on DU we read the words of paid RW shills on every thread. Since the tax cuts, the wars and Wall Street fraud the wealthy fascists are flush and they are using it to expand their influence.

Now, to the moderators, I did not call anyone specific a RW shill.

6. We could call it the NPR syndrome
Person properly identifies a person or group truthfully. Gets fired for correctly telling the truth. Then the Organization apologizes anyway to the correctly identified group for saying what they really are.

7. That's a long way from 100%
I hope this works, but in the mean time fascism rolls along in the WI legislature. By the time the signatures are collected it may be illegal for a Dem to enter the state house.
