10. Guess what? I'm a liberal.
Actually, I tend to think of myself as a liberal with realist tendencies- more of a DLC-type kind of Democrat with regards to foreign policy.

By the way, could someone explain to me how Woodrow Wilson-- a man who invaded Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Russia, and Mexico (TWICE) during his Presidency-- could be considered a LIBERAL with regards to foreign policy?

Liberals:
* Are wary of American arrogance and hypocrisy
* Trace much of today's anti-American hatred to previous US foreign policies.
* Believe political solutions are inherently superior to military solutions
* Believe the US is morally bound to intervene in humanitarian crises
* Oppose American imperialism
* Support international law, alliances, and agreements
* Encourage US participation in the UN
* Believe US economic policies must help lift up the world's poor

Historical liberal: President Woodrow Wilson
Modern liberal: President Jimmy Carter

15. Maybe
...they are reffering to how liberals USED to be... before the parties switched. i.e. democrats used to be pro-slavery in the civil war days and beyond, until FDR had a big hand in switching everything (an over-simplifacation, I know...).

18. I hear you
I also scored "liberal" but much not like Wilson (No need to have engaged in gunboat diplomacy as he did).

I don't like foreign military adventures or doing in any elected goverments. All democratic societies are either natural allies or nations with ligitimate goverments and their goverments should not be altered by external force unless there is a direct stregic/military threat.

However, since dictatorships are non-consentual goverments, there aught to be no restriction on removing them from power asside from issues of praticality and geopolitical issues.

A dictatorship has some or all for the following characteristics.
* Legal or pratical restrictions on pollitical speach.
* Restrictions to assure that people with specific viewes cannot compete in elections.
* Violence directed against political opponents.
* Existance of morality poliece.
* Lack of transparency in the criminal justice system.
* Lack of public oversight in the spending of public monies.
* Non-compliance with international norms of national behavior.
* A secret Poliece Aparatus.
Can anyone think of any ohters?

13. okay, so I'm a liberal... big surprise... but that test is biased
It uses the term 'realist' in a political context, which I think is biased by the definition of term.

23. another "realist " here....
but I'm not this silly little "poll" is any more insightful than those silly news polls on CNN, MSNBC, etc. We're always asked to DU-over there and "freep" 'em, but at the end of the day, they truly are for amusement value only. Same with this thing...
