What have we Americans become?
School me here. What sort of mMerican can read stuff like this and say to themselves? "Hell yes, it's about time we hard working taxpayers start to take back all that high living lavish welfare from those nasty poor and elderly!" I mean, is this how mean we are as a people? Are we so beaten that we no longer have any compassion for anybody but ourselves?

Budget Takes Aim at Elderly, Poor

The Republican budget proposal presents a dramatically different vision of the role of government in America.

3. The problem is our spending is skewed to provide for the elderly and it will crowd out what we can
spend on the young and investments for a better future.

We are on a downward path as a nation while the up and coming countries like China focus on it's kids and it's future.

This means a declining standard of living for all and I guess that is fine if we decide this is where we want to go. But Americans won't be able to expect we can use all the worlds resources like we have been doing.

13. We spend more on our military than most other nations combined.
And many of those nations provide Medicare-like national health care to all their people.

But somehow we had better not focus on the billions of waste in the military budget, we need to resent the elderly for taking all our money?

Even though social security is self supporting and has a surplus for years to come.

And we also need to forget that we have given billions in tax breaks to giant corporations for the purported purpose of creating lots and lots of jobs for the young and investments in our future.

9. suckered into the game
We got suckered into a game: the "free market" game where everyone believes they are 1 step away from getting rich by (insert favorite one here) playing the stock market, lotto etc.

It's a game that's rigged to take our money and turn us into slaves. And people think its "the best system" it the world.

Some of us are waking up finally, not sure if it will be too late.
