(Murdoch's) News of the World comes to an end

LONDON: Britain’s News of the World hits the newsstands for the last time on Sunday, ending its 168-year history of scoops and scandal with the headline “Thank You and Goodbye.”

In a full-page editorial, Britain’s top-selling weekly newspaper apologised to readers for the long-running scandal over phone hacking that caused its closure, saying: “Quite simply, we lost our way.”

But the row is far from over, and as owner Rupert Murdoch headed to London to take personal charge of the crisis, it was reported that police would soon be questioning his top British executive, Rebekah Brooks.

After an emotional day preparing the final edition on Saturday, News of the World editor Colin Myler led staff out of its offices in Wapping, east London for the last time.

They might not think so now, but 7.5 million British readers' brains have just been taken out of the brain-washing spin cycle.

I look forward to the day when the LBN is: "(Murdoch's) Fox News comes to an end".

1. I'd wish Murdoch would come to an end - completely. He's done more harm than good.

2. I'd bet the bad guys get to move to the "Sun" so they'll keep quiet.
Any good guys will have to take less money and benefits if they get a new job at all.

One old-name paper, spoiled, spent, disposable, so, now, discarded.

4. On the subject of which
Fish everywhere have withdrawn their support for being wrapped in the News of the World, it emerged last night.

After further allegations that the popular shitrag had hacked into phones of relatives of the war dead, Atlantic Cod were among the first to turn up the two nostril-like apertures at the front of their face at the ‘newspaper’.

They were swiftly followed by other chip shop favourites such as Haddock and Plaice in insisting that the paper had ‘gone too far this time’.

The news will come as a blow for the NOTW, already reeling after a majority of the public said they would no longer be using the newspaper to remove faeces from their anuses.
