Murdoch Gets Rich Off High-Profile Evangelicals
Frank Schaeffer is no stranger to the lies and hypocrisy of the right wing. He is, of course, denouncing the unfolding events of RupertGate. But he also passionately endicts the swamp that is Murdoch's book publishing arm in his horrific media empire.

##snip##

"Rupert Murdoch is one of America's number one publishers of evangelical and other religious books, including the 33 million seller, Purpose Driven Life by mega-pastor and anti-gay activist Rick Warren. Murdoch is also the publisher of 'progressive' Rob Bell's Love Wins."

1. Naming names

"But of course the religion writers have plenty of company.

What about journalists working for Murdoch’s Wall Street Journal?

What about Deepak Chopra?

He publishes with Harper One. Thus Chopra is helping finance Fox News. And so is Desmond Tutu. He’s also a Harper One author."

2. This is one reason I keep thinking the whole right wing edifice will crumble
and when it does so, it will happen so fast that people will be sitting around in a cloud of dust and rubble wondering for years exactly what happened.

The truth is that it's made up of a bunch of groups of people who neither like nor trust each other: the oil men, the evangelical power brokers, the fascist end of the military, corporate types like Murdoch who made deals with the devil for a bigger piece of pie, and the coalition of the bought and paid for in Congress.

All it might take is for a good soldier and major player like Murdoch to be hung out to dry. When that happens, they'll all realize no one has their back and they'll stop being so accommodating to each other.

4. The phrase that's been running through my head
is "the harder they fall." If Rupert (and his equally slimey son) fall, the world will be a much better place. He has done enormous damage. One of my relatives who lives in London says EVERYONE is following this story and they are furious. Hope the fury spreads over here from the pond - democracy and Murdoch are mutually exclusive.
