An update on three troubling U.S. trade deals with South Korea, Panama, and Colombia/ Public Citizen
Trade Watch. Org... REPORT!

Radio Free Dylan: An update on three troubling U.S. trade deals with South Korea, Panama, and Colombia with Public Citizen’s Lori Wallach.

n 1992, the hottest issue in the Presidential election was the North American Free Trade Agreement, or NAFTA. This agreement reorganized American trade policy for a generation. Now, outsourcing of jobs and of production is routine, and investors can sue to break the ability of states and localities to enact laws protecting the environment, workers, or consumers.

Some Highlights: Panama is the New Switzerland for American Corporations to Hide Out....Columbia Trade Agreement, displaces jobs for thousands of Columbians...giving them no rights....

1. What these treaties mean: economic growth for all the parties to the treaty.
We need more free trade treaties... they are the best way for economic growth and peace among nations.

2. These are not good FTAs.
I generally support a ZFT policy and withdrawal from all current FTAs, but these three are particularly abominable. They're great for enriching the robber barons and destroying American prosperity, offshoring American jobs but beyond that...they do nothing of value for the American people.

4. Growth of corporate profits
While wages are universally depressed, the environment despoiled, and people impoverished. Yeah, look at peace and prosperity in the nations that want to start pricing their oil in something other than dollars, e.g; Libya and Iraq.
