to those who are 'up for' doing more than commenting on DU....
Edited on Mon Jul-25-11 07:06 PM by JohnWxy
for those who are interested in something more than just posting on DU, the Congress's house organ (in-house newspaper) http://thehill.com/">The Hill, allows readers to comment on articles. And you don't have to go through a bothersome registration process (with setting up a password with email verification). You just type in your email and a screen name when you type in your comment.

This is a chance to get your message out beyond just the DU community, to the lumpen proletariate (so to speak).

Be advised, you'll see some pretty idiotic comments there but isn't that all the more reason to add some intelligent observations? You can ignore the idiots and just decide to register some intelligent, informed opinions. NOTE: you can also put url's in your comment and they are turned into live links. This allows you to apprise readers (including members of Congress, and staff) of informative articles and studies.

Just a suggestion. For what it's worth, your nation needs you (...really).

1. I think more people read DU than read the comments in The Hill.

2. Yeah, but I think more congresspeople read The Hill.
Although less than read Politico...which is a shame because Politico isn't fit to line bird cages.

5.  You probably are correct. But still, I think you might be reaching some people who may not see
your comment on DU. (in one of his recent press conferences Obama said to the reporters: "I know you guys read what's in the Hill."...not an exact quote.)

Also, this is meant as something in addition to posting on DU alone. I'm not talking about stopping commenting on DU. Just, consider adding another outlet.

I was just thinking that the level of comments on the Hill (and other places) could be much improved if people would share some of what they publish here on that site. You probably have seen the calibre of comments on other sites, so you would know what I mean.

I also think (though I can't prove this) that some of the idiots could possibly be driven off the 'screens' of sites if more intelligent debate begins to prevail. Call me an optimist, but I do feel this effect can happen. I guess that really is what I am hoping for... that more intelligent debate can prevail if enough people begin posting more sensible comments.

3. Ok, I'm there and looking around. Where do you post? The email
or contact us button just gets you email addresses of the staff of the paper. I'll post something if you can give me a spot to aim for.
