Boortz:Nobody Really Cares about Iraq Anymore
I know. I know. I rag on people for reading/watching/listening to rightie idiots, but I admit to stealing a peak at Neil Boortz' site tonight for s**ts and giggles. (His name is really spelled "Neal" BTW. I've heard him rag about this so I spell it wrong on purpose. Passive aggressive little me).

Neil in person is a nice guy, gentleman, whatever. He believes in a woman's right to choose and loathes the Southern Baptists. Two points scored in my record book.
But on his Nuze page( It's spelled "News," Neil) dated July 9, 2004, he claims that "Nobody cares about Iraq anymore."

Does he mean pubes don't care? Does he mean that the wives and husbands and sons and daughters and grandmothers and grandfathers - who have spouses, parents and grandchildren serving in Iraq - don't care? Does Bush care? Bremer? Rumsfield? Who the hell doesn't care?More importantly, why the HELL don't they care. And why doesn't Neil care?

1. Why don't people care?
Well, people have short attention spans, for one. And it isn't them, personally, who have lost someone.

It's sorta like all the flags that were out after 9/11. You don't see them anymore. People don't care about that anymore either.

Yes, I care, and so do you - but we aren't the easily bored mass audience.

3. Neil doesn't care as long as people still hate democrats...

I listen to Neil alomost daily because our local radio station (KSOO 1140 AM Sioux Falls, SD) doesn't play anything else and he hates the Democrats! He praises Zell Miller! But hates each and everyother Democrat in the whole universe.

4. Try telling that to the folks we have sent over there
try telling that to family members whose loved one is serving extended stay. Try telling that to the very sad case(s) where a soldier scheduled to come back - was kept in Iraq and killed... after the extended stay began. Try telling that to those disabled and the survivors of those killed.

I think we should broadcast Boortz's opinion - and pick it up if it is repeated by other conservative mouth pieces... will show the true disdain the right has for those who serve in the military.

5. So True
That's why I backslid into the "what a dumbass said" mode. I mean, according to the Bushlickers, the death and chaos in Iraq are justified because this is an important place to be fighting the war on terra. So important that a draft is being considered, that military personnel are being forced to fight even when their time to serve is over.

If regular Americans lost the stomach for it ( which they haven't) I would almost understand. but you can't sell me on the impending doom justification for war and then turn around and say, "Iraq. Whassat?"
Cold, callous bastards.

And there are flags all over where i live. And a meeting next week of the folks who send care packages to the soldiers. But then many in this area have children, relatives serving.

I think Boortz should get to go to Iraq. maybe he'd sing a new tune..
