"God's" approval rating: barely above 50%

WASHINGTON (RNS) More than half of U.S. voters approve of God's job performance, according to a new poll, making God more popular than all members of Congress.

The poll -- which was conducted by the Democratic research firm Public Policy Polling (PPP) -- surveyed 928 people and found that 52 percent of Americans approved of God's overall dealings, while only 9 percent disapproved.

Questions about God were asked as part of a larger survey assessing American opinions of congressional leaders in the midst of the ongoing debt ceiling debate in Washington.

God's approval rating exceeded that of House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, as well as both Democrats and Republicans in Congress, with each party receiving only a 33 percent approval rating.

At least in the bizarro world of X-tian philosophy, the heirarchy is something like this:

God the Father is the father (kinda tough one to figure out I know...)
God the Son is Jeebus
God the Holy Spirit is kinda like Casper, only friendlier and more accessible while halucinating.

They are technically all THREE "God", but there is only one god in three "persons"...when asked about this clearly insane idea, believers either sweep it under the rug and start madly invoking the name of Jeebus or they invoke the "mystery" trump card and feel that sufficiently ends the discussion.

In reality, this is the best summation of X-tian doctrine:
"Christianity: The belief that some cosmic Jewish zombie can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you except him as your master so he can remove and evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to consume a forbidden fruit."

(And btw, the "god" in that little fable also KNEW about the whole thing in advance and did it all - genocides, murders, rapes, floods, fires, smitings, pestilences, famines, diseases, suffering, agony, hatred, bigotry, and FEAR - anyway....with full foreknowledge of the consequences of such an action...that is not something worth worship...its the mindless babbling a goat herder with too much time in the sun, an unhealthy hatred and fear of women and a lack of proper hydration!)
