Tuesday

Dearest Dad,

I have been working at getting my crew settled today. We are just about ready to get down to work, I mean the real work and it's been a long time since we flew in the states.

I'm still getting along fine. The sun was out today and it looked good. I'll be glad to get back where the sun shines most of the time. Our morale is high so I don't mind being away too bad.

I hope to hear from you before long.

Your devoted son,

Jake Jr.

Dearest Dad,

I haven't been on a raid yet. I had hoped by this time to have one behind me. I guess my time will come soon enough.

Five Xmas cards came in yesterday. From people that I had forgotten to send some to. Those packages should be getting to me before long.

I got a notice that my laundry is still in Pendleton, Oregon. You could have it sent to you if it wouldn't cost too much. It's about eight pounds.

Not much else to say except I'm well and happy.

Love to all.

Your devoted son,

Jake S. Colvin
