Obama, Romney jobs plans reveal deep philosophical divide
Source: CBS News

"The Obama administration has severely restricted domestic energy production," wrote Romney. The Chamber agrees, saying that "almost 190,000 new jobs could be created by 2013 if permitting in the Gulf of Mexico for offshore development returned to pre-moratorium levels."

The administration has also focused on domestic energy production, but has focused its efforts on alternative sources of energy. While the administration has been slow to re-open drilling permits it issued before the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, it has been fervent in pushing for green energy, pushing for the expansion of solar and wind energy technology in the U.S., what they call the energy of the 21st century.

Where the big differences lie are in the role of government and regulation.

Additionally, the Romney campaign said in a fact sheet put out today that the candidate would go even further. "Mitt Romney will act swiftly to tear down the vast edifice of regulations the Obama Administration has imposed on the economy," it said.

Of course, President Obama has had to deal Senate Republicans who shamelessly used the filibustered Democratic proposals, as well as a Republican House since 2011, which has insisted on austerity at the risk of a default and a government shut down. The bottom line is that Republicans have shamelessly attempted to undermine the economy, yet most folks do not hold them accountable.

5. The problem is, most GOP voters tend to think THEIR Congressmen is fine.
Also, there's a good chance Democrats might lose the Senate in 2012 - according to Charlie Cook - which tends to prove the OP correct.

6. The "vast edifice of regulations the Obama Administration has imposed . . ."
Is code for healthcare funding reform.

The government regulatory environment is not substantially different than it was in 2004 or 2008, except to the degree that certain protections for communities, the environment, and the consumer have been chipped away at.

7. Obama could..
Obama could bypass the Republicans, outline his jobs package or anything else directly to the people, but first he would have to grow a backbone. Obama has zero republican support, yet he tries to appease them at every turn. I ask the question, why bother? Obama is brilliant in keeping in touch with the American people on television, just outline his wants directly to the people all while requesting their support in pressuring congress for his changes.
