“All I can say is he has been counseled in the past on why his behavior was not appropriate,” said Murray, who also happens to be the mayor of Sun Prairie.
Murray said he could not provide copies of Larsen’s employment records to back up his statements without first receiving a request for information through the state’s Open Records Law.
Larsen told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel after his termination that a supervisor told him his use of email was inappropriate. Larsen also told the Journal Sentinel reporter that he had held his job as a limited-term employee since December and had not previously been disciplined by the state.
“Regardless of Mr. Larsen’s work history, they let him go after he sent the email, not before,” Erpenbach said. “Anybody with a pulse would believe he was let go because of that email.”
