Fact Check: Perry Debates Himself on Social Security.
Source: nyt

As Gov. Rick Perry of Texas was assailed by some rivals for the Republican presidential nomination at Monday night’s debate for his misleading claim that Social Security is a “Ponzi scheme,’’ he also seemed to be debating himself at times.

Mr. Perry used the debate to talk about the need to shore up Social Security, which politicians on the left and the right agree is needed if the program is to be able to continue paying out full benefits a quarter of a century from now. But in making his case Mr. Perry both exaggerated the problems facing Social Security and adopted a very different tone than he did in his book “Fed Up” just a year ago, when he described Social Security as a failure that “we have been forced to accept for more than 70 years now.”

1. So let me see;
Cutting back/deleting Social Security will be a big issue for Perry.

Senior Citizens count on Social Security for a lot of their income.

Senior Citizens vote more as a group than any other in the US.

Perry fucked up and is now trying to say he did not shit and eat it.

2. Ponzi scheme
Always wonder what a Ponzi scheme refered to so I looked it up:

A Ponzi scheme is a fraudulent investment operation that pays returns to separate investors, not from any actual profit earned by the organization, but from their own money or money paid by subsequent investors. The Ponzi scheme usually entices new investors by offering returns other investments cannot guarantee, in the form of short-term returns that are either abnormally high or unusually consistent. The perpetuation of the returns that a Ponzi scheme advertises and pays requires an ever-increasing flow of money from investors to keep the scheme going.

It has absolutely nothing to do with Social Security because SS is a mandated supplemental retirement system. Is this stupid Perry prick trying to redefine a system that has been in place since 1935.

4. The best comment about Perry I've heard was from a conservative
"Any position taken by Perry requires a date/time stamp."

The guy is all over the map, you can't trust him to hold a position from one second to the next.

I'm kind of hoping they nominate Perry.

He should be fairly easy to beat. A large faction of his own party doesn't trust him.
