Genkai No.4 nuclear reactor stops operation

A reactor at the Genkai nuclear power plant in western Japan was shut down automatically on Tuesday, following a technical glitch with the unit's cooling system.

Kyushu Electric Power Company, the plant's operator, says no one was hurt and there have been no changes in radiation levels monitored near the plant.

The Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency says the Number 4 reactor at the plant stopped operations at around 1:40 PM on Tuesday, after abnormalities in the steam condenser of its cooling system were signaled by equipment.

Tuesday's suspension has left the utility with only one of its 6 nuclear reactors in operation.

3. Bites the dust? Are you under the belief that this is somehow permanent?
It shut down due to a glitch, which is standard procedure when something out of the ordinary happens. They'll inspect it and turn it back on.

4. I'm under no false sense that they will shut them all down just hoping they would go the German way!

5. The German way: building 17 new coal plants and activating old dead ones.
Replacing CO2-free clean energy with planet-killing coal because the public can't understand risk factors.

6. If you feel so strongly about the safety of those Nuke Plants TEPCO is looking for people to work in
Fukushima Daiichi

So put your words into action. Power does not have to come from coal I work at a Natural Gas fired steam plant which burns clean with low emissions considering it has been running here for over 50 years!
