bill to discipline China for unfairly holding the value of their currency lower than the free market value. Strongly suggest you read the full article as four paragraphs cannot really explain this rules fight.

By a 51-48 vote, the Senate voted along party lines to change the precedent and limit how amendments can be considered once a filibuster is defeated. Under normal procedure, the Senate has 30 hours of debate after 60 senators agree to end a filibuster. Amendments can be considered during those 30 hours if each side agrees by unanimous consent to schedule a vote — or if a senator moves to waive the rules, which would then require the support of 67 senators in order to succeed.

But under the new procedure, senators can no longer move to waive the rules once a filibuster is defeated — a battle that threatens to further inflame partisan tensions and stymie legislative action at a time when frustration with Congress is at an all-time high.

The latest procedural dispute centered around Republican amendments to a bill aimed at retaliating against China for allegedly undervaluing its currency in an attempt to sell its exports at much cheaper prices. The bill was headed towards final passage after a bipartisan majority defeated a Republican filibuster Thursday morning — even after no GOP amendments had been considered.

After the filibuster was defeated, Republicans had a series of unrelated amendments they wanted debated, including one by McConnell to force the Senate to decide whether to bring up Obama’s original jobs proposal that had caused some controversy among a handful of Democratic senators {http://thehill.com/homenews/senate/185693-senate-dems-quash-obamas-tax-plan">and which was not offered for a vote by the Senate Democrats as they are modifying the bill to change the funding by applying a surtax on those with an annual incomce of a million dollars or more._Bill USA}.

2. the question for M$M is "How do they hide that fact in this story?"
M$M has done a marvelous job 'protecting' the viewing public from the knowledge that the RePugnants are using the threat of filibuster and filibuster-by-amendment to slow down everything Obama and the Dems have been trying to do to fix the TRICKLE DOWN - DEREGULATION DISASTER.

But how do they tell this story without blowing the Repugnuts cover???

3. Well...
They do want America to fail! That's been their plan from day one of the Obama administration. They want control back, and the think this is the way to get it, but stopping any bill that might help the economy, put people to work, or help in any way to get us out of the mess that they and Bush got us into. They have no plan to fix things, just BS and lies that they hope people will buy into and vote for them in 2012. Of course if they were to regain control, they would continue on down the path of privatizing this country and selling it off to the rich, piece by piece. Not a very good scenario for the rest of us!

4. The Rs will kill the regular filibuster the next time they control the Senate and White House.
They will never tolerate the same obstructionism they have perpetrated since Obama took office.
