The full Ron Reagan-Esquire article |
|
I posted it on the general discussion board, but things don't stay on the front page very long over there, of course. This is a must read. http://www.esquire.com/features/articles/2004/040729_mfe_reagan_1.html

|
I get the sense he is going to admit that he is a Democrat soon.

5. That was the best summation of the Bush Presidency I have ever read. |
|
We owe Ron Reagan a great deal of thanks for his outspokenness regarding Bush. He could have played it safe. He could have sold his soul to the Republican devils as so many (including Zell Miller) have. But he didn't. He is standing up for what is right.
He is, indeed, a great man.

7. I'm gonna go out on a limb here |
|
After reading the article, I've determined that Ron Reagan is not going to vote for Bush. I'm thinking of changing my DU moniker to "Masteroftheobvious"

out of many lines in this article:
As Jonathan Alter of Newsweek has pointed out, Bush has "never fully inhabited" the presidency. Bush apologists can smilingly excuse his malopropisms and vagueness as the plainspokenness of a man of action, but watching Bush flounder when attempting to communicate extemporaneously, one is left with the impression that he is ineloquent not because he can't speak but because he doesn't bother to think.

I think his father would be proud. I rank his comments right up there with Patrick Henry's "give me liberty or give me death" speech. Tremendous.
