A Cautionary Reminder About the Debates
Sean Aday in the Gadflyer has an excellent reminder that as far as the debates go, It ain't over till it's over, and we shouldn't get too giddy just yet. Even though he hasn't had to handle tough questions Bush* is at his best in town hall type settings, while Kerry can come off as stiff and ponderous. Right now expectations for Kerry are sky high so any slip will be magnified, while Bush* merely has to show up and be folksy to make the pundits swoon.

1. This is what I've been saying ever since the first debate.
Bush will thrive in a town hall setting where he can work the crowd with sleeves rolled up, making eye contact and eliciting crowd responses. I just hope they enforce the silent audience rule, because Bush gets uneasy when he doesn't have throngs of sycophants.

3. Couldn't agree with you more
We're back to the soft bigotry of low expectations. Most in the media will give it to bush if he's even marginally better than he was last week.

8. One thing Kerry has going for him
shrub will either make faces again (he can't help it) OR
he will try so hard not to make faces that he will look like a zombie.
