Dover manager on leave for not paying bills
By KRISTY DOUGLAS and RENEE BROWN, T-R Staff Writers

Scott Daniels, utilities office manager for the City of Dover, is on paid administrative leave for not paying his own utility bills, according to city officials.

Mayor Richard Homrighausen said Friday that Daniels did not pay his electric, water, sewer and trash bills for four months after his wife lost her job. Daniels owed about $1,000.

Daniels was put on paid administrative leave Sept. 14. The Times-Reporter learned of the situation Friday. A call seeking comment from Daniels was not returned Friday night.

Daniels, who is also vice chairman for the Tuscarawas County Republican Party, is now current on the utility accounts. The accounts are for utilities at Daniels’ home and at a rental property.

Makes one wonder if this guy was donating to the Bush campaign rather than paying his utility bills. BTW, the average yearly income in Dover-New Philadelphia is between $18 and $22K per year.

3. Utility bills
Anyone I know who didn't pay their utility bills were only given a one time late notice after the first month before their utilities are shut off. Four months? Wow! At $46,000 a year, he should be able to pay his utilities, that is one of the first things I pay.

But, I guess if you are a manager with utilities and a Bush supporter you can do whatever you want.

4. This is how partisan our local paper is
We have a jerk of a man serving as editor of the newspaper. Read on to see for yourself:(Editorial 8/8/04)

* * *

When President Bush’s motorcade made its way into downtown Dover a week ago Saturday, a group of protesters – Kerry supporters — found itself out of position. Two or three protesters carrying a large poster board sign ran to the area where the buses were parked and held their sign up high enough so that no one behind them could see anything.

Several members of the crowd yelled at the young Democrats to “put the sign down.” But the young Dems wouldn’t listen and continued to block the view. Finally, a man who was there to see the president intervened and wrestled the sign to the ground.

Guess who's part our "fair and balanced" editor took?
