Local Activist Mocks Local Bigots (Oregon Measure 36 pamphlet-jamming)
There was this thread about the humorous Oregon Voters Pamphlet over here a couple of days ago:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=2463338

Here a story the Portland Mercury did on the guy who did the deeds:

http://www.portlandmercury.com/2004-10-07/ex3.html

"Defense of Heterosexual Breeding." "Traditional Prejudices." "The Beaver State Defense of Beaver." These are some of the coalitions supporting Ballot Measure 36 that you may not have heard of this election season. Why? Because they're really not supporting Measure 36 at all.

"My calling in life is to be a satirist," says M. Dennis Moore, head of the aforementioned organizations, "to ridicule the Religious Right."

To fulfill his self-proclaimed destiny, Moore has published not one, but four different scathingly sarcastic pro-Measure 36 arguments in the upcoming Oregon Voters Pamphlet.

"AGREE WITH US OR BURN IN HELL!" screams the argument from the Traditional Prejudices Coalition.

. . .

1. Did you get something in the mail today?
We just received "The Last Chance to Preserve Marriage in Oregon". I promptly asked my husband, "Does this mean if Measure 36 fails our marriage is over?" What a dilemma this presents! Just kidding! I'm voting no, because all else aside, this issue is not worthy of a constitutional amendment. Forget it! In fact, as I go through the voters pamphlet, I'm pretty much coming down on the "no" side of all the measures. And there's another pamphlet yet to arrive...Whatever happened to our commitment to preserving trees??

DEFEAT BUSH!!

2. I haven't gotten any pamphlets yet
It makes me almost as ill inside to see the voter pamphlets stack up on the customer use tables at the Post Office as it does to get another AOL CD with my morning paper.

And I certainly agree, most of the ballot measures look awful.

3. Yeah, I'm not sure why there's no option to simply view it online.
I am going with yes on 34, and maybe 33, but otherwise it's a no, no, no, no, no, no kind of election.
