The Plot To Sell the News-Vanity Fair, Nov. 2004
Michael Wolff wrote an excellent piece on
the reasons the "news media" all got the
story on Iraq wrong. The author argues that
journalists are in massive denial about
the business they're in: packaging.

"No matter how hoity-toity a news organization,
you can't not participate in what has been storified,
whether it's Jessica Lynch or swift boats."
(of course, unless the story hasn't been
told at all...like the truth-my words)

This also has to do with the run up to the
war when news owners wanted goodies from
the FCC and were reluctant to piss off the
Bushies.

Sorry VF doesn't link it's stories online.
Great issue, include a music CD and focuses
on music....great second parter to the
Path to Iraq also.
