Currylicious Unisys Indian outsourcing plan
http://www.fuckedcompany.com/

Following their 2,000-person Indian outsourcing plan, rumor has it Unisys is booting 1,400 workers and shutting down some facilities, saving an estimated $70 million per year by the end of 2005.

1. Makes ya right proud
to live in a country where money means more than people. I think I'll put on some Lee Greenwood.

I'd change some of the words to suit my mood though.

3. My first job out of college with with Burroughs (later Unisys)
It was a pretty decent place to work -- until the CEO during the mid-80s, a lunatic named Blumenthal, declared he wanted to create a $10billion company.

Only he never specified anything other than that number.

And then he started buying up other companies like mad, including the previously sound firm, Sperry Univac. The combined firm, which never eliminated any of the duplicated mainframe product lines, was dubbed Unisys.

The layoffs began about eight months later, and never stopped, as far as I can tell. For instance, a brand new and highly automated manufacturing facility in Flemington, NJ was shut down less than two years after beginning operation.

The fact they're now 'outsourcing' and moving offshore doesn't surprise me in the least.
