San Diego Union (Right Wing Newspaper) Endorses Bush For President
Bush for president

http://www.signonsandiego.com/uniontrib/20041017/news_lz1ed17top.html

It reads line an RNC advertisement, not an article. Every lying right wing talking point including "waffling" and "Kerry says terrorism is just a nuisance" is included.

This is one of the most right wing daily newspapers you will find in the United States. Almost everything Democrats do is evil, and everything Republicans do is great, according to the "news" in this paper.

3. San Diego..Big Navy/Marine Town
I used to be in the Navy out there. I loved San Diego the city but wiht all the rich and the military bases out there one can expect it to go GOP. I just wish the paper execs of the Tribune lived in National City so they can get a taste of the GOOD LIFE !

5. Endorsement news so far is excellent!
Sure, many papers like this will tow the party line. But others, like the Oregonian in Portland, the Tampa Tribune, the Daily Herald in Chicago, and the Bradenton Herald in Florida are not afraid to say that they were wrong in 2000 and are declining to endorse Bush again.

So far, there have been a number of papers that supported Bush in 2000 declining to do so this year. But to my knowledge, no paper has switched from Gore to endorsing Bush. That says a lot in my humble opinion.

6. They're trying to perpetuate the myth that SD is a conservative city

It's an old canard. We have more registered Democrats than pukes, and we're going Kerry bigtime.

Write in DONNA FRYE for Mayor!

12. Exactly - I'm seeing nothing but old myths about San Diego in this thread.
San Diego is no longer just some Navy/Military town. Nor is its economy based on the military economy. It has a huge high-tech and medical/bio research based economy, and between 2000 and 2002 the ratio or registered Republicans to Democrats diminished significantly. It has the best hospitals and medical facilities in the State. The legal and service communities are growing by leaps and bounds. New industries and new wealth are pouring in from around the country as real estate prices have soared for years.

By now, we Dems in San Diego outnumber the Repukes in terms of registration. I believe this will be the first national election in San Diego history where the county will vote overwhelmingly Democrat.

The San Diego Union is another story - a dinosaur in a mammalian environment. Its board's members' days are limited. And its editorial policy will be required to change with the times before too long. Either that or it will go out of business and be replaced with a more liberal minded city newspaper.

9. What a surprise! The U-T RNC hacks (not!)!
I cancelled the subscription several months ago, teling them I have no use for a newspaper that considers Malkin a great columnist!

All I can say is, when I went to see Michael Moore on Tuesday, in San Marcos (San Diego County), the number of Kerry-Edwards stickers I saw everywhere was astounding!

14. Michael Moore was right here in Del Mar, at the race track.
the school board in San Marcos wouldn't let Moore speak there. So he spoke at the race track to over 10,000 of us. One of his first comments about the size of the crowd: "See what free speech can do?" (huge round of applause).

10. No surprise
I live in San Diego and can tell you it has the biggest concentration of freepers in the golden state. Pete Wilson got his start here. 'Nuff said.

The Union Tribune is GOP apologist rag and kisses the ass of the Military Industrial Complex that dominates the local economy.

15. So, when you sent your letter to them,
Edited on Mon Oct-18-04 12:26 AM by Carla in Ca
stating your outrage at all their distortions, I hope you really let them have it for the "Kerry says terrorism is just a nuisance" issue. I hope you reminded them that Brent Scowcroft said the very same thing just 2 years earlier.
I hope you did, because then there will be at least 2 of us who set the record straight.
Let me know if you need a link.

Edit.
Oh, and in your letter, don't forget to remind them that the repugs have bankrupted your city like * is bankrupting the country.
