2. Nader's got the top spot on the Arkansas ballot |
|
Too late to "step aside". And people will still waste their votes on him

4. There are always people who will vote for fringe candidates |
|
I even did once (1980), and I considered myself a Democrat at the time, so it does happen.
And by the way, Nader is listed on the Arkansas ballot as a national candidate from the heretofore unknown Arkansas Populist Party. Talk about a fringe candidate!

So, Nader shouldn't be allowed on the ballot?

6. The real question should be, What purpose does his candidacy serve? |
|
His former party from 2000 rejected him, he has to resort to making up different parties to get on different state ballots, he is getting lots of financial support from Republicans, and he has no chance in hell of winning, but he does have a chance of drawing votes away from the only candidate who can beat bu$h.
So what's the point of his candidacy?

The printed ballots can't be changed and he can't do any worse by withdrawing. Hard to believe he could deliver many of his votes to Kerry at at this point either or that Kerry would have gotten them anyway. He has pumped up the anti-Dem and anti-Kerry theme too much in those people.
Guardian is living in another world of saner American politics and far far away. I just love untimely wise advice that is meaningless and can do absolutely nothing.
