Ted Rall : America's Last War
http://www.commondreams.org/views04/0804-08.htm

<snip>

My prediction that they would float new rationales for war after Iran-Al Qaeda failed to catch on has already come to pass. Now Administration gofer Colin Powell is accusing Iran of--you guessed it--trying to acquire weapons of mass destruction. The Bushies claim Iran's nuclear power plants could easily be converted into facilities for manufacturing weapons. "It is our judgment that Iran is developing nuclear weapons and a nuclear weapons program, and we'll all have to take note of this," Powell said on July 29.

They're using the same lies on Iran that they used for Iraq.

Iran, of course, had nothing to do with 9/11.

<snip>

"The United States is showing off by threatening to use its wild dog, Israel ," said Iranian spokesman Seyed Masood Jazayeri. " reaction will be so harsh that Israel will be wiped off the face of the earth and U.S. interests will be easily damaged."

We would be wise to pay attention.

1. We could probably decimate their airforce and navy
But occupation would put us up against their large infantry, on much more equal footing.

3. It all seems just like nuclear war to me: the only way to "win" is
not to play. Ironic; 50 years of war and terrorism, and the one thing we haven't tried is to just leave them all alone.

4. The great Asian powers will not be able to ignore
...conquest of Iran. Whether they do or not it will be official beginning of the new World War. Of course, coup 2000 and the faux 911 attack were the origin, and Iraq the beginning.
