Cleveland Plain Dealer Publisher to Override Ed. Board Kerry Endorsement?
Things are getting ugly at the Plain Dealer. From Editor & Publisher:

http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1000683265
Meanwhile, E&P has learned from several sources at the Cleveland Plain Dealer that the paper's nine-person editorial board decided earlier this week that it wanted to endorse Kerry but Publisher Alex Machaskee, who has final say, has decided on Bush. The paper backed Bush in 2000.

This has caused consternation in some quarters at the Plain Dealer, with sources telling E&P that the endorsement editorial, which was expected to run Sunday, was put off.

3. Express your opinion
http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1000683265

Meanwhile, E&P has learned from several sources at The Plain Dealer in Cleveland that the paper's nine-person editorial board decided earlier this week that it wanted to endorse Kerry, but Publisher Alex Machaskee, who has final say, has decided on Bush. The paper backed Bush in 2000.

This has caused consternation in some quarters at the Plain Dealer, with sources telling E&P that the endorsement editorial, which was expected to run Sunday, was put off. One editor told E&P that some at the paper are pushing for, at least, a dissenting pro-Kerry column.

The responsible thing to do in this situation, rather than letting an insane corporate agenda overrule the considered opinion of a bunch of conservatives for whom Bush is too much to take, would be to print a Kerry endorsement anyway and/or resign.

Express your opinion concisely and politely to the Plain Dealer at

letters@plaind.com or
fax 216-999-6209 or

4. I get it. Editorial board is the voters. Publisher is the Supreme Court.
Overrides make sense if you don't want a democratic outcome.
