The New Yorker backs Kerry,in its first political endorsement of its history

The New Yorker (circulation: 958,179) has made the first political endorsement in its 80-year history, backing Sen. John Kerry in next week's presidential election. The five-page editorial in the Nov. 1 issue criticizes President Bush's tax cuts, his environmental policies, his execution of the war in Iraq and his Justice Department's record of "secrecy and arrogance."

Meanwhile, news editors throughout the land, continue to pound bushinc with more Kerry endorsements

Just like the one I write every four years to the Dallas Republican News. This year, my letter looked something like this:

As I read about the Editor of the Crawford paper getting punished for endorsing Kerry by his pro-Bush readers, I couldn't help but wonder what would happen to the Dallas Morning News if they ever endorsed a Democrat for President.

Who am I kidding? That will never happen in my lifetime!

Oh well, I send practically the same letter every 4 years and it never gets printed. I get about 50% of my other types of LTEs printed but somehow they just never have room for a letter that points out that they have not endorsed a Democrat for President in three generations.

This Pro-GOP rag is THE ONLY PAPER IN TOWN. Don't let this happen in your town.
