He said Bush, she said Kerry, just mix in a little r-e-s-p-e-c-t

This election year, Karen Van Buren got mad and got active. The 58-year-old Democrat volunteered at John Kerry's headquarters in Palo Alto, wrote letters to voters in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Florida, and donated money to the Democratic Party.
And when she borrowed her Republican husband's car, she taped Kerry logos over his bumper stickers touting President Bush.
The Van Burens differ sharply about the candidates, but they agree that this election has been more divisive than any in their 24 years of marriage.
Like many bipartisan couples in the Bay Area, the Van Burens say that the vitriolic nature of the campaigns, high-stakes issues like the war in Iraq and abortion rights, and uncertainty about the future is causing conflict not only for the country as a whole, but over the breakfast table as well.
"We try not to talk about it too much so we can stay married," jokes Paul Van Buren. "I'll be grateful when it's over."
