Mad as hell and not taking it anymore
I Got my paper this morning and read the editorial section of the Fresno Bee (I promised myself I wouldn't do that while in mourning but habits are hard to break. ) This editorial popped up to greet me: It's all yours, Mr. President (http://www.fresnobee.com/opinion/story/9378371p-1028641... ).

Subscription is required to read online, so let me focus on what got my dander:

There will be much soul-searching within the gay community over whether the timing was right to press the marriage issue in the Massachusetts courts and in San Francisco, where Mayor Gavin Newsom defied state law to issue marriage licenses to gay couples. It was hardly coincidental that 11 states had ballot measures that defined marriage as the union of a man and a woman. All won, including Ohio's. There is no doubt this was a key issue in this close presidential election.

The gay agenda caused Bush to win the election? Here is what I sent in a LTTE:

Wow, do you feel better now? Do you feel vindicated? On Nov 4th, you published an editorial giving victory to George Bush and in it blame Bush’s re-election on the gay agenda?

So let’s be clear. You as the media, chose social journalism over investigative journalism by focusing on the candidate’s personalities over their political ideas. You decided to publish lies as facts (i.e. Swiftboat Veterans) and defended yourself by saying you are just reporting what is being said. You and the rest of the “liberal media” allowed this president to scoot through four years by not asking the tough questions about 9/11, by not challenging him when he misinformed American about Iraq, by ignoring or downplaying stories about the economy.

You watched as our President divided the country with moral issues, ignored homeland security, and created policies that have sent our economy into a tailspin. But gays and lesbians striving for equal rights are the root of President Bush’s second term? Shame on you. Take that theory (and your paper), roll it up and throw it on someone else’s lawn. My subscription is canceled.

5. Excellent LTTE....I also cancelled my newspaper since they
wouldn't print any of my letters prior to the election. (Both were about *'s failure to focus on the real terrorist threat).

8. Great letter! I think Shrub rode to victory on the
heterosexual horse. He is president to only heterosexuals. Someone way back when must have buried that constitution. He should have brought it out to prove gays have no rights. The Christian right are ot Christians. How dare they call themselves Christians.

9. Remember what Barack Obama said at the convention

"A belief that we are connected as one people. If there’s a child on the south side of Chicago who can’t read, that matters to me, even if it’s not my child. If there’s a senior citizen somewhere who can’t pay for her prescription and has to choose between medicine and the rent, that makes my life poorer, even if it’s not my grandmother. If there’s an Arab American family being rounded up without benefit of an attorney or due process, that threatens my civil liberties. It’s that fundamental belief—I am my brother’s keeper, I am my sisters’ keeper—that makes this country work. It’s what allows us to pursue our individual dreams, yet still come together as a single American family. “E pluribus unum.” Out of many, one."

"Yet even as we speak, there are those who are preparing to divide us, the spin masters and negative ad peddlers who embrace the politics of anything goes. Well, I say to them tonight, there’s not a liberal America and a conservative America—there’s the United States of America. There’s not a black America and white America and Latino America and Asian America; there’s the United States of America. The pundits like to slice-and-dice our country into Red States and Blue States; Red States for Republicans, Blue States for Democrats. But I’ve got news for them, too. We worship an awesome God in the Blue States, and we don’t like federal agents poking around our libraries in the Red States. We coach Little League in the Blue States and have gay friends in the Red States. There are patriots who opposed the war in Iraq and patriots who supported it. We are one people, all of us pledging allegiance to the stars and stripes, all of us defending the United States of America..."

We lost this election because Bush/Rove succeeded at dividing America. During the past four years, and during the campaign.
Plain and simple.

10. SO WHO IS GOING TO BE THE BIGGER MAN AND MAKE
THE EFFORT TO REACH ACROSS AND START A DIALOG, AFTER ALL THE POLITICIANS DON'T LOSE, THE SPIN MASTERS DON'T LOSE, THE NEWS SOURCES DON'T LOSE, THE AVERAGE AMERICAN LOSES. TO ALL THE REST IT'S A GRAND GAME ON A COMPUTER SCREEN AND THEY GET BROWNIE POINTS FOR MOVING US AROUND LIKE PIECES ON A CHESSBOARD

WE ARE BEING MANIPULATED BY SAVVY SOCIOLOGISTS WHO HAVE US POINT FINGER OF BLAME AT ONE ANOTHER AS THE CULPRIT FOR OUR RESPECTIVE ILLS.

WE NEED TO WAKE UP AND DECIDE THAT THE MAIN STREAM MEDIA AND THE PUNDITS AND THE KARL ROVES OF THIS NATION AREN'T GOING TO DIVIDE US ANY LONGER. WE WILL NEVER COME TO COMPLETE AGREEMENT UNDERSTOOD BUT LET'S STOP ALLOWING THEM TO LEAD US AROUND BY OUR NOSES.

OUR COMMON ADVERSARY IS NOT OUR NEIGHBOR IT IS OUR GOVERNMENT. DON'T LOSE SIGHT THAT THEY SERVE US. WE CANNOT BE INTIMIDATED

A DIVIDE POPULATION IS A WEAK POPULATION.
