I was a but angry (go figure) when I wrote it but it was cathartic. The letter after mine was even better. -Greg
"Voters will reap what they sow
America has spoken. While polls showed that more than 50 percent of people feel the country is heading in the wrong direction, America has voted to step on the gas. And the news was quick to respond. In the futures market, the cost of oil quickly jumped back over $50 a barrel after dropping in the days heading up to the election when polls showed Kerry overtaking Bush.
The White House is asking Congress to lift the debt ceiling to more than $8 trillion. I'll be sure to thank my children for loaning me their money so that I could have a tax cut. Congress is already talking about getting a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage, as well as push through anti-abortion judge nominations.
The pundits are saying that this election was decided on many cultural and moral issues. You can't eat morality, though. In Ohio, 11,500 people will lose their jobs because of severe cuts in the state government. I guess Ohioans have not had enough job cuts to sway them to vote for Kerry.
According to the Federal Register, it appears that new rules have been put in place to strengthen the enforcement of selective-service registration. I wonder why the administration would do that. I am so glad to be living in a democracy, a form of government in which the people get what they deserve.
