This paper, which was founded by Alexander Hamilton, who must be rolling in his grave right now, has become a pathetic rag under its present rich, society-wannabee owner, Mortimer Zuckerman. Zuckerman, like Murdoch, the owner of the "unfit to use for doggie toilet paper" NY Post, is seeking government favors and so after waiting until the very last minute, supported the Bush candidacy. I generally refrain from buying this paper but last night I read an abandoned copy and realized once again why I detest this paper and its top editors so much. This was the editorial from last night's paper: ************** Unsurprisingly, many Americans who've been furiously dead sure for the past four years that George W. Bush stole the presidential election in 2000 are now equally convinced, or would love to be, that he somehow stole it again in 2004. Never even mind the Internet wackadoodles who are theorizing that Sen. John Kerry secretly conspired with Bush to engineer his own defeat (as they are, after all, both Skull and Bones Yalies who have sworn allegiance to Satan); there are lots of other less zany souls out there who are choosing to divine election fraud everywhere they look (see Voice of the People at right for a sampling of such opinion).
Unfortunately, they're seizing on rather common mishaps that occur in every election and whipping them into dark, paranaoid conspiracies to suggest that a candidate who won by 3.5 million votes didn't really win.
Let it be noted: Not even the Kerry campaign believes he wuz robbed. And those who would stir up questions about his legitimacy without further evidence are doing a great big disservice to the nation. That includes several members of Congress, including our own Rep. Jerry Nadler, who have now suggested that the General Accounting Office look into voting machines used in various places.
Look, Bush won reelection fair and square. People need to understand that, and accept it, and move on.
**************** Letters to the editor(Voice of the People) were on the same page, each entitled with what I consider insulting headings - as follow:
FORM LETTER Long Island City: It is disturbing and alarming that the media choose not to report the widespread voter irreularitites that...Tara Dxxxx
ETC. Glendale: Why is no one covering the acts of voter suppression that occurred all over the country...Tony Pxxxxxxxx
ETC. ETC. Yonkers: It is quite obvious even to the most idiotic citizen that the election was flawed beyond...Raymond Mxxxxxxxx
ETC. ETC. ETC. Phoenicia, NY: More and more reports are coming out about African-Americans denied acces to the polls in Ohio, and...Michael Gxxxxxxx
ETC. ETC. ETC. ETC. Malden, Mass.: George W. Bush, John Kerry and many of the on-air pundits have called for unity, but that's not going to happen until the ballots in Florida, Ohio, New Mexico and North Carolina are recounted. There was obviously something very suspect going on. Tom Bxxxxx
ETC. ETC. ETC. ETC. ETC. Manhattan: Tp presume there would not be any shenanigans when the process is not accountable in any way, and then not to investigate potential errors and abuses, smacks of repressive and outrageous tactics. There's simply too much money invested in this administration's hijacking of the country to start playing fair now. Linda Rxxxxxxx ****************** Please note the insulting headings used for each letter. These letters were followed by more insulting letters from the rightwingers advising dissatisfied Americans to leave the country. No editorials were directed to THEM.
I hope that you will write to the editors of this paper and tell them how you feel about such an insulting editorial.
